What do you believe concerning Jesus? Was He just a great teacher, miracle worker, leader of some movement? ....or.... was He so much more?
Jesus is the eternal Son of God
The Bible teaches that Jesus is eternal, that He was not created but that He has always been. The Gospel of John chapter one we find these words in verse 1.
"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Later on in verse 14 we read these words...
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Jeus is the Word.
The Birth of Christ
The Bible also teaches that Jesus came from heaven to earth and was born of the virgin Mary. He took on the likeness of men. The fact that Jesus' virgin birth took place lets us know that Jesus was no ordinary man, he was the God man, perfect and without sin. In fact, because Jesus is virgin born and eternal... that lets us know that He is God.
The Life of Christ
Jesus lived the perfect life. In Jesus' perfect humanity he identified with us, yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin."
Jesus lived the perfect life that you and I could not live.
The Death of Christ
He lived the perfect life because He was satisfying God's requirement for salvation which was/is perfection. We fell short of it, but Jesus was perfect in every way making Him the one and only sacrifice for our sins that would be acceptable to God. Question, do you believe that Jesus died for you and your sins?
The Resurrection and Ascension of Christ
The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the basis for our hope and proof that Jesus' victory over sin, death and the grave is real. Without the resurrection we would have no hope at all, see 1 Corinthians 15:14-17. Because Christ rose from the dead, you too can rise to new life in Christ Jesus. Do you believe Jesus rose from the dead?
"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." Romans 8:11, NKJV
In Acts 1:9-11 we find that Jesus ascended back to heaven. As He went up, angels stood nearby and told the disciples that this same Jesus would return in like manner.
The Return of Christ
Believing that Jesus died and rose from the dead is part of the gospel, however, believing that Jesus ascended to heaven and is returning is also part of the gospel message. Jesus is returning.
"Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."
Revelation 3:10, NKJV
Do you believe that Jesus came from heaven to earth, that He was born of the virgin Mary, lived the perfect life and died in your place on the cross? Do you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead? and Do you believe that Jesus ascended to heaven and is coming back one day? If you have never called on Jesus before... call on Jesus, admit you are a sinner and ask Him to save your soul, forgive your sin and make heaven your eternal home.
